The Complexity of Self-Expression with Music
Self-expression is such an interesting concept. It varies from person to person, and it changes constantly over time. There are countless ways to express ourselves in this day and age, but one that I personally love is music. It doesn't matter who you are, how much money you have, where you come from or what language(s) you speak; you can always find music that you like. What I find the most interesting are the artists behind the songs. I like to think of it this way: musicians are expressing their fans for them. That's where their following mainly comes from, it's the relatability of their joy, pain, fear, or whatever else they feel. If you take time to analyze some of the most popular artists, their music is generalized and contain symbolism that can be interpreted in many ways.
